UJSSA
Hello Suffolk breeders and admirers! My name is Allee Hoover and I am currently serving our junior board as the United Junior Suffolk Sheep Association President. With the help of our Junior Coordinator, Isaac Lewis, I am so excited to lead a group of outstanding UJSSA members that make up our board this year! Representing various states throughout the U.S, our junior board is filled with so much knowledge and love for Suffolk sheep. We have so many ideas and hope to continue to showcase the excellence of our breed. At a time of so much enthusiasm surrounding producing Suffolk sheep we are thrilled to have the chance to make an impact on our industry. This year we hope to spark even more excitement within our youth through educational events and webinars, social media campaigns, and social events. Throughout the year please check your email and theUJSSA social media platforms for ways to compete in our virtual contests, or to tune in on our educational webinars put on by professionals in the livestock industry. If you are a young Suffolk breeder, make sure to check our website under our "Foundation" tab for the chance to apply for scholarship awards to continue your education. Up to $48,500 is offered annually in scholarship awards that are given to our UJSSA members. Each year, we also offer our "Ewe Grant Program" where new junior members can apply to be awarded a grant to buy a Suffolk ewe that will help start their flock. Additionally, within our four districts of the U.S, our juniors have the opportunity to win money based on their show placings with their futurity nominated ewes. Suffolk breeders as a part of our USSA senior board and the Suffolk Foundation help to provide endless opportunities for our youth and we are proud to be able to encourage our fellow members to participate. Don't hesitate to contact any of our board members with input or for information about how to take advantage of our programs.
From Maine to California, the Suffolk breed meets the needs of hundreds of producers across the country. Whether our junior members hope to succeed as a showman, a producer, or a leader we strive to support them. Our team hopes to create a Suffolk family this year that connects our junior breeders and creates lasting friendships in the sheep industry. We cannot wait to meet some of our members at our upcoming Suffolk EVENT, regional shows, and the National Junior Suffolk Show held at the All-American this year in Maryland! We will see you there!
Thank you to our members, and keep raising amazing Suffolk sheep!
